Robert Morris

The particular aspect of Morris' work i am interested in are his more textile pieces centering around draping fabric, solely because of the flowing movements and shapes and the more abstract quality of his sculptures.

Kate Smith

Kate Smith's drawings are incredibly detailed using ballpoint pen to create large scale abstract pieces, this is what i am looking to for inspiration, ideas and preliminary research.

Peter Randall-Page

Randall-Page's work is an example of detail within abstraction particularly his sketches/drawings, a fair amount of detail and thought goes into the work before the sculpture is made.

The Cohabitation of Abstraction and Detail

I have recently been looking into the two ends of the spectrum: abstraction and detail and how i can merge the two into one..
I started to look at carpets in my previous project and i thought i couls carry some aspects through so i looked closer and photographed the fibres and really liked the end result.
I took what i have learned from my explorations within colour to find ways to make the images more interesting, these consist of ink, acrylic paint and emulsion on carpet squares.
